In the past few months, there has been a prominent debate around the globe, i.e., Whether education hubs of the world such as Canada, Australia, and the UK should impose strict visa immigration laws on students. In countries like Canada, setting strict immigration laws is essential, considering the number of diploma students in Canada. Canada believes a diploma is not a legitimate student experience, so it has denied visas. The primary purpose of a certificate is not academics but rather earning money and obtaining a Permanent Residency. To make this transition more accessible, the financial statement that students submit has been raised from 10,000 Canadian dollars to 20,635 dollars. The govt believes that the universities have become puppy mills where international students are exploited. Students who are unable to get acceptable lodgings typically end up working in exploitative employment. This move may reduce the country’s economy, but Canada has also changed the student work permit policy to overcome this. Now, students can work for as many hours as they want. This would serve as suitable for Canada’s economic interests. Apart from that, the housing rent has undergone a 9.9% increase, causing tens of thousands of individuals to live on the streets.

Now, let’s talk about the UK. The government of the United Kingdom has declined to issue visas to dependents traveling with students. They believe that this move would reduce the number of applicants by 140,000. It may weaken the country’s economy but also help protect public services. The government also plans to collaborate with universities to allow outstanding students to bring their dependants. The govt’s action aims for high-quality education, preventing the exploitation of international students. Besides, the govt has tightened the healthcare institutions. UK’s primary goal is to grow its economy, which isn’t occurring now.

Now let’s come to Australia. Australia has placed several limitations on student visa applications. An English proficiency score 6.5 is required for graduate visa applicants, while a score of 6 is required for student visa applicants. Students who must remain in Australia to complete their studies must persuade the government that they will benefit the nation’s economy through their academic endeavors. Additionally, it would shorten the validity of graduate visas. Those who have a more significant influence on Australia will also benefit from the Australian point system. Healthcare and technology services alike would not have trouble obtaining permanent residency. Additionally, this would lessen the exploitation of international students. Both the number of homeless persons and the number of migrants would undoubtedly decline because of this move.

Additional considerations: They have put limits in place but must be aware of how they will affect the economy. These overseas students, who pay hefty tuition fees, books, living expenses, and other costs to gain admission to these esteemed universities, are the primary source of income for these nations. In addition, students who remain on to work after graduation or work part-time. They impart knowledge and values to the workforce. The nation’s workforce and skill set would not advance if tight regulations were allowed. Furthermore, the country can be lacking in cultural diversity. This will lessen heightened acceptance, an open mentality, and a comprehensive perspective.
